Michael Jackson's doctor on trial in singer's death

Image
print   email     More than two years after Michael Jackson went into cardiac arrest at his mansion, the doctor who was treating the "Thriller" singer will come before a jury Tuesday charged with responsibility for his death. Dr. Conrad Murray's trial is expected to give the public a glimpse into the King of Pop's final days as he rehearsed for a series of concerts aimed at restoring a career shattered by a 2005 child molestation trial, despite his acquittal. Jackson's parents, his sisters Janet and La Toya, and other family members are expected to attend the trial, which could run until late October and is being televised live. Medical examiners have determined Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, at his rented Los Angeles mansion was due to an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and sedatives. ‘Tinubu’s trial vindicates Gani Fawehinmi’   print   email     An Abuja-based Non Governmental Organisation, Society for Rule of Law of Nigeria (SRLN), has described the trial of former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal as a vindication of the stance of the late human rights lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi (SAN). The group said in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Chima Ubeku that “Gani Fawehinmi would be happy in his grave now. As we look at Tinubu in the dock, our minds went back to that day at Igbosere, Lagos, where legal icon, Gani Fawehinmi, was pelted with sachets of ‘pure water’ by hoodlums sponsored by Tinubu. “Our minds also went back to that human rights lawyer, who masterminded the shameful act just because of a few millions of Naira. “We wonder where those who lined up behind Tinubu then will be hiding their faces were Gani Fawehinmi to be alive.” Referring to when the late legal luminary was purs...

"I and all Nigerians are shocked," Jonathan told reporters and emergency workers at the charred U.N. building. "We will work with the U.N. and other world leaders to ensure that terrorism is brought under control." So far there has been no confirmed claim of responsibility for the attack in which the car's driver was killed, possibly making the incident Nigeria's first suicide bombing. However, analysts, secur...

Memorize the Scriptures

16 Sep 2011 Memorize the Scriptures ..."The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart."  Romans 10:8 Nothing pays greater spiritual dividends than memorising Scripture. Your prayer life will be strengthened. Your witnessing will be more effective. Your counselling will be in demand. Your outlook will change. Your mind will become more alert. Your confidence will be enhanced. Your faith will be solidified. Even if you've tried memorising Scripture and given up, try again using these seven simple steps. 1) Choose a time when your mind is free from outside distractions. 2) Learn the reference by repeating it every time you say the verse. Numbers are more difficult to remember than words. 3) Read each verse through several times - both in a whisper and aloud. Hearing yourself say the words helps cement them in your mind. 4) Break the passage into its natural phrases. Learn the reference, then the first phrase. Then repeat the reference and the first phrase as you...
